If you are using a Windows PC or Windows laptop or any Windows device, of course, you are well acquainted with the command prompt thing. At this small black screen called Command Prompt, many types of small commands can be easily removed by typing different commands.
This command acts as a prompt lifesaver if your operating system crashes several times. We all Windows users know at least some command prompt commands and occasionally use them when needed. However, today I will discuss five command prompt tricks that can be very needy at times, and some are quite interesting and that you should know if you are a Windows user. All you need for this is,
- Windows PC or Laptop
- Windows 7 (better if it’s the latest version), and Windows 7 and 8 may work too (not sure).
- Common Sense ????
With CMD you can easily format any removable drive or internal drive on your PC. For example, you can format your PC hard drive if you want and you can also format a removable pen drive or SD card connected to your PC. These formats can be used in general from Windows Explorer. So why use CMD for this simple task? Because with the help of CMD, your drive will certainly be formatted.
If you notice often, many corrupted Pendrive does not want to be formatted as a simple method with Windows Explorer. Or even if there are many more issues with PenDrive, various error messages often show up and the normal method is not formatted. But if you format the drive using CMDD, the drive will be smoothed for 5% of the time no matter what the issue.
If you want to format a drive with a command prompt, first open the command prompt and type Diskpart and press Enter. If you want admin permissions, give permission. Then when a new CMD window is open, type list disk and press Enter. You will now see a list of all internal and removable disks connected to your PC, along with their capacities. From here, use your common senses to figure out how many numbers the drive you are trying to format.
If you notice the size of the drive, you will understand which drive. If you understand, type select disk 1 and press enter, if your desired drive is disk 1. If anything else happens, then you can write like disk 2 or disk 3 or disk 4 or something else. I hope you understand. Now if you want to format the drive, Then type Clean and press Enter. Depending on the size of your drive, it may take a while. After formatting, you will be called DiskPart successful in cleaning the disk at the bottom line. Not done yet but! Now type create partition primary and press Enter again.
Command Prompt Color Change
You may not even know that you can color the command prompt any way you want. That is, the white text on the default black background of the command prompt will change this theme and you can see any color of your own color on the black background.
For this, you just need to open the command prompt and type help color and press Enter. Then you will get many preset color choices with each serial number. Notice the screenshot below. Here, type the color you like from the list with the serial number below. You can see the desired change right away. For example, the color I liked was the serial number. So I have typed color 05.
Command Prompt Title Change
You can also change the title text of the command prompt if you want. That is, when you open a command prompt, you can change any text that you want to change by typing the command prompt in the window title. Just open the command prompt and type in the title your desired text, for example, I wanted to title the command prompt StayHealths.com text. So I open the command prompt by typing title StayHealths.com and press enter.
Command Prompt Open At A Specific Location
If you use CMD too much, then you must know that navigating from every drive at the command prompt to your desired location is a very painstaking process. You will not be able to find the file if a drive letter is wrong, you cannot go to the location if a symbol is wrong.
Moreover, typing in C drive, D drive, a hyphen, slash, etc., the task becomes annoying. However, you may not know that to open a command prompt in a specific location, you do not have to first open the command prompt and then navigate to that folder. You can usually open the CMD directly in that location by going to your desired folder using Windows Explorer. In that case, you just have to type in the location of the file above in Windows Explorer.
Scanning System Files
You can also scan your PC’s system files using a command prompt. Whether you have any issues with your system files or need to fix a problem with your system files, these are all scanned at the command prompt. Don’t think of it as antivirus just by hearing the name of the scan. This is a virus scanner or malware scanner It will only scan your system files to see if there is an issue and to fix the issue.
All you have to do is open the command prompt in Administrator mode and type FC / scan now and inter-press. Only then will the command prompt start verifying your PC’s system files and show you the verification progress. And at the end of the verification, you will see the result. If everything is ok you will be shown in the result and if there is any issue, whether it was fixed and what issue is fixed, it will be shown in the result.
