Candida Diet A Diet For Life

As a sufferer of the yeast infection called Candida, I have to adhere to a strict Candida diet. I did not know that the symptoms which I was experiencing was a result of a yeast infection. A few years ago, I started to experience extreme pains in my joints. The pain spread from my knees to the other joints in my body. When visiting doctors, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The medical treatment of this condition was to put me on steroids, immune modifiers and pain killers. The symptoms however just got worse, it got so bad that I was unable to walk properly. It was at this time when I went to see a homeopath, who said I need to clear the Candida. This homeopath then put me on a Candida diet.

The principle behind the Candida diet, is to create an environment within the body in which the Candida cannot survive. The ideal environment for Candida to thrive, is an acidic environment. An acidic environment allows the Candida to rapidly grow and spread throughout the body. This condition is called Candidiasis. Now Candida which has spread out of control can show up in various forms. If it has affected the heart, it can result in heart murmurs and other heart complications. If it has affected the skin, then rashes or other infections such as toe infections and Athletes foot occurs. Candida which thrives in the mouth results in thrush and in the vagina can result in vaginal thrush.

Candida Albicans can mask itself as many other diseases, this is why it goes undetected. Some mild symptoms of Candida, are such as; headaches, anaemia, joint aches and pains, tiredness, inability to concentrate, moodiness and so forth.

Candida diet

When wanting to eradicate the Candida present in the body, a Candida diet is the principle weapon. A Candida diet is a diet which produces an environment which is alkaline. In this alkaline environment the Candida cannot grow and begin to die off, as they die the symptoms too disappear. Here are a list of foods to avoid and a list of foods to favour:

Food to avoid
Avoid foods which create acid; sugar, carbonated drinks, sparkling water, sweets, chocolates, biscuits, chips, bread, pasta, cakes (in fact all products made from flour), rye products(bread and flour), pre-packaged foods, alcohol, Ceylon teas and coffee, jams, pork, artificially flavoured products, canned fruit, and food products which contain colorants.

Foods to favour

Favour foods which create an alkaline environment; fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, freshly squeezed juices, still water, nuts, seeds, legumes, rice, honey, chicken, fresh fish, sea food, organic meats, corn, millet, quinoa, polenta, buckwheat, raisins, Greek yogurt, cheese, green tea, camomile tea and any other herbal tea infusions, molasses.

A Candida diet is a diet which favours the eating of natural foods. Remember that Candida is a yeast infection, so the most important foods to cut out are those which contain yeast and processed foods.
